The Opportunity:
AAA and Bob Sumerel Tire & Service combined forces to create a full service retail store catering to all the needs of local consumers when it comes to their automobiles. The new store concepts include car care services, tires, auto insurance, passports, travel and all of AAA’s well known services. The store also needed to accommodate car and travel related merchandise all under one roof. The new store layout included a AAA “side” and a Bob Sumerel “side”, but needed to have the look and feel of an open and seamless shopping experience with clear navigation.
The Solution:
Before KDM Retail came into the project, AAA had solicited several different vendors to complete the new retail store environment. KDM was able to provide a turnkey solution and simplify their supply chain by providing retail design, millwork, décor, installation and point of purchase printed materials; all from KDM. Along with our many value added services, we were able to execute AAA’s vision.
Millwork of custom store fixtures included:
- Customer service kiosks
- Tire rack display
- Wall-mounted wheel display
- Waiting area tables and a TV monitor display case
- Curved front service desk with an adjoining round wall feature with shelving
- Brightly painted slat wall feature for merchandise display
- File drawers and bookcases behind the front desk
- Passport area with seating
Store décor, signage and graphics included:
- Several digital printed large format wallpaper lifestyle murals related to travel and family
- Wayfinding signage: 3D dimensional lettering and logos
- Stretched fabric printed graphics
- Entrance sign made of acrylic that welcomes guests into the store
- Digital printed large format wall mural with images of key local area landmarks
The Result:
KDM Retail was able to provide AAA and Bob Sumerel an ease of doing business by providing more innovative retail solutions by one provider; saving them time and money. They are very pleased with the look of their new store. The images of the local area landmarks give it a desirable neighborhood feel. The open concept; along with the color palette and fixture finishes, give it a relaxing yet upbeat atmosphere.
